Geriatric Social Workers of Southeast Michigan Scholarships:

        Debra Crane MSW Student Scholarship
        BSW Student Scholarship

The scholarship(s) sponsored by the Geriatric Social Workers of Southeast Michigan (GSWSM) are presented annually. The scholarship(s) are to encourage and financially assist social work students with a preference given to social work students who are focused on geriatric work or studies. One of the MSW scholarships is in memory of our founder, Bernice Gadon, and the second MSW scholarship is presented in memory of a member, Debra Crane, who was a previous recipient of the scholarship. A third scholarship is for BSW studies. Doctoral students are encouraged to apply under MSW graduate study program.

Scholarship recipients will be awarded a complimentary membership at the chapter of their choice for one year in the Geriatric Social Workers of Southeast Michigan in addition to their scholarship award.

Amount of the award will be determined by the GSWSM Board, based on organization’s budgetary constraints and may vary annually.

To apply, applicants must:

Be currently enrolled in an accredited University Bachelor’s. Master’s or Doctoral social work program
Provide proof of enrollment (obtain from registrar office) in either BSW program (Junior or Senior status), MSW or Doctoral program
Submit personal essay relating interest, career goals and reason for choosing career as a geriatric social worker
Submit Scholarship Application online by December 31st, 11:59 P.M.
Students may apply in any level category during their undergraduate and graduate studies but awards will not be given for the same category more than once.

Scholarships are awarded at recipient’s chapter of choice and at the final meeting of the year for that Chapter.
